Let The Show Trial Begin

Who is this guy Saddam? Why does he have such privilege? Why is he not held forever in a secret cell like the other so called high value enemy combatants?

We were told he was an immediate threat to America. That he was eager to rain deadly biological agents and chemical poisons upon us if we did not take him out. We are told over and over that Saddam is the worst of the worst, evil incarnate, killer of unknown thousands of his own people, the mother of all terrorists, a threat to the region, to the world, to civilization itself.

If he is as bad as that, then why is he treated with dignity and tooth exams? Why is he taken cleaned, dressed, Koran in hand before a court to hear his rights and make a plea? Why when innocent Afghan taxi drivers are hooded, chained and beaten like mad dogs then left to rot forever beyond the pail of justice and incessantly milked for intelligence at the whim of unknown and unaccountable interrogators?

Moral: the more evil one is, the more killing one does, the more torture one inflicts, the more humane one's treatment. But let a zealous FBI agent see you taking tourist photos in New York City and you'll get slammed into a black hole of prisoner abuse at the infamous Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, beyond the reach of family, friends or counsel; with liberty and justice for all.
